Community Business Market in 2016

The Power to Change Institute, the reseach arm of Lottery fund Power to Change, commissioned Social Finance to conduct research into the landscape, culture and potential of the community business market in 2016.

Open Cinema was approached along with colleagues at Arts Council England and Bigger Picture Research to offer data, experiences, and insights from our now over seven years' work in the UK non-theatrical exhibition (community cinema) sector.

Most of the findings to which we contributed are summarised following p18, but other sectors - such as libraries (p32 ff) - are affected by the increasing affordability and ubiquity (though not yet utility) of community exhibition infrastructure, so its worth searching by sector as well as simply for the word "cinema".
